NERVOUS SYSTEM
What is the function of sensitivity?
The
nervous system receives the information and interprets the information
about the environment. It gives the orders for our body to respond the
stimuli.
- Central nervous system: brain and spinal cord
- Peripheral nervous system: nerves
Explain what is the process that occurs in the nervous system in this picture
LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM
What is the locomotor system?
It's
a system formed by the skeletal system and the muscular system. It's
responsible for our movements (muscles) and our shape and structure
(bones).
How the muscles are attached to bones?
They are attached to bones by tendons.
How the bones stay stuck in the joints?
Bones meet at joints, where they are held together by ligaments.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
What is digestion?
It's the process of breaking down food into nutrients that our body can use.
What happens when we eat an apple?
1. In our mouth we chew the apple and we smash it, the apple mixes with the saliva.
2. We swallow it and it's pushed into the pharynx, and it runs down the oesophagus.
3. It reaches the stomach and mixes with the gastric juices.
4. It travels to the small intestine, where mixes with the intestinal juices, bile (liver) and pancreatic juice (pancreas)
In the small intestine the nutrients are abosrbed.
5. In the large intestine water is absorbed and the remaining undigested food leaves the body through the anus.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
What is respiration?
It's the process to obtain oxygen our body needs and to expel the carbon dioxide our body produces.
What is the difference between inhalation and exhalation?
In
the inhalation, air enters through the nose, goes to the pharynx,
travels down the larynx and the trachea and reaches the lungs through
the bronchi. In the lungs, it runs down the bronchioles to reach the air
sacs, where gas exchange takes place.
And in the exalation, the carbon dioxide runs up the way back till the nose or mouth.
